Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma
  • Accredited college work in Education, Recreation, Physical Education or related field preferred.
  • Work experience in a structured environment preferred.

JOB GOAL:
Plan, organize, and teach a specific skill or activity to a variety of groups on a daily basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS:

  • He/She is responsible for the safety of all staff members and campers assigned to the activity.
  • He/She supervises, monitors, participates and teaches a specific skill or activity such as arts and crafts, sports, dance and rec room.
  • He/She provides positive feedback to campers to help them master the activity.
  • He/She guides campers towards excellence.
  • He/She supervises, monitors, and participates in the end of camp show.
  • He/She must model appropriate Christian behavior at all times.
  • He/She evaluates the counselors assigned to their activity group.
  • He/She must attend weekly after camp meetings.
  • He/She will complete other duties assigned by the Camp Director or Assistant Camp Director(s).

REPORTS TO:
The Specialty/Activity Counselor reports directly to the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director(s).


EVALUATION:
The Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director(s) will evaluate the Specialty/Activity Counselor weekly. The evaluation will be based on successfully completing the responsibilities listed above.
