Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma
  • Accredited college work in Education, Recreation, Physical Education or related field preferred.
  • Work experience in a structured environment preferred.

JOB GOAL:
Plan, organize, and implement their group activities as they promote the mission of the camp. 

RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS:

  • He/She is responsible for the safety of all staff members and campers assigned to their group
  • He/She is in charge of supervising staff members and campers assigned to their group.
  • He/She supervises, monitors, and participates in all activities scheduled daily to the group. Activities include but are not limited to arts and crafts, sports, table games, and rec room.
  • He/She supervises, monitors, and participates in all field trips assigned to the group by the camp. 
  • He/She supervises, monitors, and participates in swimming lessons along with the pool staff
  • He/She supervises, monitors, and participates in the overnight camp event.
  • He/She supervises, monitors, and participates in the end of camp show.
  • He/She must model appropriate Christian behavior at all times.
  • He/She evaluates the counselors assigned to their group.
  • He/She must attend weekly after camp meetings.
  • He/She communicates with parents as necessary.
  • He/She will complete other duties assigned by the Camp Director or Assistant Camp Director(s).

REPORTS TO:
The Senior Counselor reports directly to the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director(s).

EVALUATION:
The Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director(s) will evaluate the Senior Counselor weekly. The evaluation will be based on successfully completing the responsibilities listed above.
